FAQ

How do you find hidden shortcuts in Polytrack?
Watch the top 10 leaderboard ghost replays to spot jump angles and corner cuts that bypass outer curve track segments.
Does touching grass or gravel slow the car down?
Yes, off-track terrain increases rolling resistance significantly and breaks forward acceleration.

Speedrun Philosophy: Milliseconds Over Safety

In time-attack racing, surviving the track is not enough—you must extract every drop of velocity from the physics engine:

Optimal Racing Line ➔ Inside Apex Clipping ➔ Air Jump Skip ➔ Maximum Exit Velocity

1. The Ideal Racing Line: Out-In-Out

  • Turn Entry: Position the car on the outside edge of the track before the turn begins.
  • Apex Clipping: Cut tight against the inside corner kerb at the midpoint of the bend.
  • Turn Exit: Drift smoothly back toward the outer edge to straighten your steering angle and accelerate earlier.

For input timing, review our Beginner Racing & Controls tutorial.

2. Air Jump Trajectory Skips

On tracks featuring elevation drops and large launch ramps:

  • Angle Your Takeoff: Steer diagonally on the lip of the jump to land directly onto the next turn instead of taking the long road curve.
  • Air Pitch Leveling: Keep the vehicle level with keys W and S so you touch down cleanly on four wheels without bottoming out. Learn the physics in Drifting and Advanced Physics.

3. Avoiding Time-Killing Mistakes

  1. Over-Drifting: Drifting too sideways looks stylish but bleeds straight-line speed. Counter-steer early to keep forward momentum high.
  2. Boundary Wall Grazes: Even light friction with side guardrails reduces engine RPM instantly.
  3. Practice on Custom Circuits: Load top circuits from the Popular Custom Track Codes collection to hone your reflexes.
  4. Create Training Courses: Use our Track Editor Complete Guide to build dedicated chicane test layouts.
